Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Uganda Chapter is a Non-Governmental Organization established in 1997 as part of the wider FAWE Network to address gender disparities in Education. FAWE Uganda seeks to hire a competent, dynamic and experienced professional to fill the following positions;

Title:                                      Program Assistant (2)

Duty Station:                                    Fort Portal

Reports To:                          Program Officer

Job Summary:

The Program Assistant shall be part of the programs team and shall provide support in planning, budgeting and implementation of the “Prevention of Violence Against Children in and Around Schools” project activities in Bundibugyo, Kasese and Ntoroko Districts. She/he has to ensure that high quality work is done in the delivery of services towards achieving the objectives of the project.

Key Result Areas

1. Actively participate in the Project Planning and budgeting processes

 2. Ensure that project specific activities are effectively and efficiently implemented as per project calendar

 3. Coordinate the trainings of different beneficiary categories as per the project work plan

 4. Organize and coordinate meetings with different categories as outlined in the project work plan

 5. Ensuring proper follow-up for proper implementation of outlined activities among different stakeholders

 6. Participate in the designing and roll out context specific income generating activities and livelihood options for the respective communities within the project districts.

7. Coordinate emergency response and implement Child protection interventions to ensure maximum integration of synergies as projects are implemented

 8. Spearhead group formation and training of group members on VSLA activities.

 9. Prepare and submit good quality reports to the immediate supervisor in a timely manner

 10. Ensure clear documentation of project success stories as well as filing and maintaining all project documents in both soft and hard copy and submit on regular basis to the supervisor.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

  • A Bachelors’ Degree in Education, Social Science, Social Work and Social Administration, Development Studies, Adult and Community Education or related field is essential
  • Post Graduate Training in Child Protection is essential
  • Computer Literacy (MS Word, Excel, Statistical Packages etc)

EXPERIENCE

  • At least two years’ relevant experience in a reputable NGO
  • Experience working in an education related environment will be of an added advantage
  • Experience with working with livelihoods projects such as VSLA
  • Experience in working with youth related projects
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding license is essential
  • Knowledge of at least one of the local languages is essential

 Title:                                      Driver (1)

Duty Station:                         Fort Portal

Reports To:                          Program Officer

Job Summary:

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Human Resource and Administration Manager and the direct supervision of the Program Officer, the driver shall ensure that FAWEU staff and officials are driven safely to meetings, workshops, field activities and other work related destinations; and that that the FAWEU vehicle(s) under his/her charge are maintained in an optimal working condition.

Key Result Areas

  1. 1.Ensure that the vehicles are in a good mechanical state at all times
  1. Ensure safety of the vehicles as well as the tools therein at all times
  2. Observe all road safety regulations and ensure that the vehicles are compliant to the Road Safety Act and other related laws
  3. Carry out simple mechanical repairs on the vehicle(s)
  4. Performs minor repairs, arranges for regular maintenance and ensures that the vehicle(s) is kept clean and in good running condition(s) at all times
  5. Ensure availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, first aid kits and necessary spare parts and tools are in the assigned vehicle(s)
  6. Carry out all pre and post driving checks on the vehicles before and after any trip
  7. Drives FAWEU staff and visitors to meetings, workshops and field visits among others
  8. Assists staff and other officials in loading and offloading items from the car
  9. Collects and delivers mail packages and equipment and maintains records of all deliveries and distributions.
  10. Maintains records for the vehicle(s), logs official trips, records daily mileage, records the use of fuel cards and keeps records on fuel consumption
  11. Keeps track of insurance and other tax formalities

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

  • An O’Level Leaver’s Certificate is essential
  • A Valid Driver’s License
  • A Certificate in Basic Mechanics is essential

 

EXPERIENCE

  • At least three years’ relevant experience in a reputable organization
  • Knowledge of defensive driving
  • Knowledge of at least one of the local languages is essential
