"20 Years of Enhancing Girls' and Women's Education for Development" FAWE Uganda 1997-2017

Mr Malcolm Twinomukunzi

Mr. Malcolm Mpamizo is currently one of the Program Officers at FAWE Uganda, a position he has held for the last 3 years. Mr. Mpamizo joined FAWE Uganda in 2009 to coordinate the setting up of the FAWE Uganda Higher Education Program. His portfolio has since grown to include the €1.8 million Irish Aid funded Karamoja Bursary Programs, a four programme designed to bring education to Karamoja sub-region in Uganda. Prior to his work at FAWE Uganda, Malcolm had undergone training spells at Bank of Uganda, Standard Chartered Bank and Advocates Coalition for Development and Environment (ACODE), which exposed him to the rigors of Grants management and implementation, the legal and policy regime of managing large finances as well as issues of corporate and good governance.

Mr. Mpamizo’s education background is in Law having attained a Bachelor’s degree in Law (with honors) from Makerere University and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre. This is in addition to other short professional courses, seminars and conferences in various disciplines with specific reference to governance, development, gender and gender mainstreaming, HIV/AIDS, policy analysis and policy advocacy. It is this vast experience that has groomed him into the lawyer and development aid officer that he is today, and has seen him nominated to the Young Leaders Think Tank for Policy Alternatives – a group of young, highly qualified individuals who discuss pertinent policy issues from the perspective of the young generation and communicate positions and alternatives to political decision makers.

Outside his work at FAWE Uganda, Malcolm is a member of the Uganda Law Society, East African Law Society and is a member of the Rotaract Club of Kampala The CORE of Rotary International where he has been involved at the highest position of leadership (Leading youth in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Eritrea) and received an award as a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) for his dedication and commitment towards improving the lives of the communities that he serves. Malcolm also enjoys travelling, swimming and soccer.

“FAWE Uganda has the capacity to grow into a robust and dynamic civil society organization at the forefront of the promotion of girl child education and gender equity through research, policy and community advocacy.” Malcolm says.
